Dr. Kevin E. Ritzenthaler, D.C., D.C.B.C.N.

I grew up always knowing that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping others. But it wasn’t until my second year of college that a close friend opened my eyes to the world of chiropractic. As soon as he did, I knew that was it for me. I was going to become a chiropractor. The philosophy of healing patients from within, without the use of often times harmful drugs or surgery, rang true with me. Since then, I have been thankful each day that I have had the opportunity to help so many people in such a special way.

In 2005, I began pursuing my other passion, nutrition. I entered the 2-year post-graduate diplomat program in clinical nutrition at Northwestern Health Sciences University, which I completed in 2007. I have also written and published research and case studies in the field of clinical nutrition.

My specialty is in the area of Functional Medicine. One of the common complaints I hear from patients is that the drugs they are taking are not really making them healthier. That is exactly where Functional Medicine comes in. Functional Medicine deals with primary prevention and underlying causes of serious chronic diseases instead of just the symptoms. It is anchored by an examination of the core clinical imbalances that cause various disease conditions. It is these imbalances that are the precursors to the signs and symptoms that are later detected and labeled as a disease. Once I know what is going on in the patient’s body, I am able to develop a treatment plan specifically for them.

I believe Functional Medicine will transform the practice of primary care as we know it. The experiences and results I have personally seen from this type of care have been amazing.

I am always excited to meet a new patient for the first time knowing that I may be able to truly affect their life in ways they never thought were even possible. I hope I get a chance to see you here at our clinic too!
