Chiropractic care is safe for infants and children

Adjusting techniques are modified for your child’s size, weight, and are specific to their spinal condition. In fact, the pressure used on an infant is no more that used to test the ripeness of a tomato, yet its healing effects can be immediate.

A study published in 2008, followed 781 pediatric chiropractic patients who received over 5000 chiropractic treatments. Over the course of the three-year study, no “serious” and only seven “minor” adverse effects were reported1.

More and more parents are beginning to question the safety, necessity, and potential side effects of commonly prescribed drugs and medical procedures. Chiropractic care is a safe, drug-free, non-surgical health care option.

Research Supports the Effectiveness of Chiropractic Care

A study published in 1989 compared the health and wellness of 200 children under chiropractic care to 200 children under conventional medical care. The chiropractic group had fewer ear infections, fewer allergies, and fewer cases of tonsillitis and asthma2.

Breastfeeding – All infants in a 2009 study showed some improvement in their ability to breastfeed, and 78% were able to exclusively nurse after 2-5 chiropractic treatments3.

Colic – A 2008 study reported that participants cried significantly less and slept significantly more after receiving chiropractic treatments4. In 2009, another study showed that colicky infants who received chiropractic care were twice as likely to sleep well and to experience fewer temper tantrums in their toddler years when compared to those who did not receive chiropractic care5.

Ear Infections – Numerous studies have shown that chiropractic care is an effective treatment for ear infections. A 1997 study found that on average, children suffering from ear infections resolved their conditions within 5 adjustments over 8-9 days. Additionally, the reoccurrence rate over the next six months was less than 20 percent6. A 1996 study found that 93% of study participants improved under chiropractic care7.
